Proactiv Deep Cleansing Wash + A Giveaway

I am on my second week now of using the Proactiv Deep Cleansing Wash and I’ve never been happier and more satisfied with my skin. Proactiv Deep Cleansing Wash is a medicated wash that can be use all over the body particularly in areas prone to acne like back, shoulders, and face.
Since I don’t often get that much pimples on my body, thank God! I use the Deep Cleansing Wash mostly on my face especially after my morning or afternoon run. I like how it leaves me feeling refreshed and clean. I usually put a pinch size on my index fingers and gently rub it on my face particularly in my cheeks and chin areas where pimples usually grow.

Thanks to the mild exfoliating beads that work to remove dead skin cells, my face is noticeably soft and smooth to touch eversince I started using this product. My skin blemishes and scars appear to have lightened also after only a week of continued use due to the Salicylic Acid in its formulation. I had less pimples as well as it works to unclog pores and reduce oiliness thereby preventing future breakouts. I like letting it stay on my face for a couple of minutes too since the gentle botanicals, Oleifera Seed Extract and Aloe Barbadensis Gel, give that soothing and refreshing feel.

I am very careful with what I put on my face, in fact I am very particular with the brand that I will use. I am happy to share though that the Proactiv Deep Cleansing Wash sits well on my skin. I don’t feel any dryness, peeling, itch or sting during and after use. It is in fact so gentle that I let my 12 year old daughter use it as well since she is getting breakouts ever since her period started. Surprisingly, her face has cleared out too.

Care to Share

I have always been very vocal about my support for anything handmade. I am a great fan of the creative minds and hands behind them. Recently, my friend Irene’s amigurumi dolls caught my attention not only because she did a wonderful job crocheting eleven of them but also because of her purpose in creating them. You see, these dolls were created to support the “I Share. You Share. We Care” project of her brother-in law, Gerry Lita. They represent the eleven beneficiary kids of the project. Here are some of them.

I Share has been partially supporting the schooling of eleven kids from a marginal community in Cabuyao, Laguna for the past two years now.  I  Share provides them with complete sets of school supplies for the year including school uniforms and a small amount of at least 500 monthly for their snacks and other school needs. To date, it still continues to do so.  Sad  part though is it is running low on funds. These amigurumi dolls were lovingly created in the hope that it will help generate the funds needed to support and sustain the cause. Those who will make a pledge in kind or in cash, wether on a one time, monthly or quarterly basis in exchange will get one of the dolls.

I always believe that it really doesn’t take much on our part to change the world. And that our actions need not be grand as well for it to be considered life changing. In fact, our little concerted efforts and actions can do the trick. As simple as sharing your extras to help others and living up to the teaching of 2 Cor 9:7-8 can make a difference already.
In case you want to step up and help, you may send me a note at blancnotes@yahoo.com or pm  I Share at their facebook page here. Everyday we spend a lot on little stuffs that give us quick dose of happiness like a box of insanely expensive J. Co Donuts and Starbucks coffee. We get googly eyes when we see expensive designer bags, clothes, and shoes.  We don’t even think twice in buying them. If we can afford such luxury I guess we can afford to help one child stay in school as well. We’re not asking for much, whatever you can give as long as it comes from your heart will do. Believe me, it will not only give you quick dose happiness but a lifetime supply of blessings as well.

Happy Birthday Bianca

Happy 12th birthday baby, you’re my dream come true and I thank the Lord everyday for giving me YOU.

Here’s 12 Things I Love About You:
1. I love how you literally sparkle and how you just seem to dazzle everyone with your smile. People often tells me how pretty you are, I say they haven’t seen you at your “prettiest best ” because they haven’t witness yet how your eyes light up like the sun and how your lips widen into that beautiful smile as you slowly wake up from deep slumber.
2. I love how you always see the good in everyone and how nothing, not even daddy’s death, can steal away your sunshine.
3. I love how you were able balance daddy and me when he was still alive. You always seem to know the right words to say and the right thing to do when you catch us bickering like old love sick fools. Haha!
4. I love how you’re not afraid to try new things and how you are open to great possibilties. I have to admit, you are braver, smarter, and clever than me when I was your age.
5. I love how you can easily make friends and how you value the friendships you’ve made. For you, friends are for keeps no matter how annoying they can be.
6. I love (and hate) how gullible you are. It’s shows your trusting and humble personality. You never pass yourself up as more intelligent and beautiful than the rest of them even when at certain points you were.
7. I love how you always do what we say even when you would have wanted to do otherwise. You always have deep respect for us your parents.
8. I love how you never demand things from us and how you manage to be happy with whatever we can give you.
9. I love how sensitive you are to other people’s feelings and how you manage to adjust yourself to their needs.
10. I love how you became my pillar of strength during the time of daddy’s passing. It was because you understood that I had to cry, you understood that I had to go through a long period of depression, you understood that I had to go through grief that I was able to come out of it stronger and better than I was before the tragedy.
11. I love how you never expected me to take daddy’s place and how you never demanded that I’d be more than what I already am after daddy died. It is because you love me more and expect from me less that I strive everyday to give you the best.
12. I love how you always include me in your future and how you always promise me that when you grow up you will give me wealth beyond measure and how you will show me the world.

Bianca Angela, I am the wealthiest mommy alive right now because I have the most precious gem in the world, you. And I don’t really need to see the world, any place in the world as long as I’m with you will do.

Batu Caves, Malaysia

I know most you have already made plans for the summer but just in case you happen to be in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, I know just the place you can go to if you like temples/religious historical site.
When my daughter and I found ourselves in KL last month, I made sure that we got to visit the popular Batu Caves which is located just north of the city. It is a good 30-45 minutes ride from our hotel, The Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur.
It is a limestone hill which is made up of a series of caves. It got its name from the Sungai or Batu River which flows past it. It is one of the most popular  Hindu shrines outside India and is dedicated to the Hindu Lord Murugan.  It is also the focal point of  the annual Hindu festival, Thaipusam  which happens during the months of January/February.
The world’s tallest statue of Murugan, who was a Hindu deity, is located outside Batu Caves. This imposing statue is said to have cost 24 million rupees.
Batu Caves rises 100 meters above the ground and is composed of 3 main caves and a few smaller ones. Visitors must climb the 272 steps to reach the top.  My daughter and I were deadset on reaching the summit despite our fear of the macaque monkeys who happened to be everywhere as it is believed that the Gods grant the prayers of those who pay respect at the Hindu shrines on top.
batu
batu 2
There is not that much to see aside from the golden statue or the hindu shrines on top so at the most you can see everything here in an hour. The place is relatively well kept.  I suggest that if you plan to  visit Batu Caves do it in the early morning like 8 or 9 am as it tends get really hot by mid morning to noon. It is a captivating site but like I said monkeys are everywhere so make sure not to carry plastics with you and keep away your sunglasses as they are said to be well trained to snatch these away.
Batu Caves can be easily reached by commuter bus available at KL Central Station.

Our Role As A Social Media Influencer

Me As A Social Media Influencer
I remember starting this online journal back in 2008 when my husband gifted me with my very first laptop. At that time, I rediscovered my love for writing and was excited at the thought of stringing words into meaningful sentences again. All I wanted then was to write, write, and write. I didn’t care much if people read my posts. I was my own writer, reader, and follower.
When one of my blogpost about my experience as a scoliotic patient got quite a number of hits from people suffering from the same physical condition as mine,  I began seeing blogging in a different light. When people started turning to me for questions and referrals on how to best deal with their situation,  I realized that without intending to, I have become a social media influencer myself.
From then on, I started taking my passion for writing and sharing ideas seriously.  Since I envision this little space to be a source of inspiration to others, I began presenting information here in a way that would empower readers and make them take proactive steps to change the/their situtation. And as  Blancnotes become more and more visible in the netosphere,  I also felt a pressing need to be extra mindful of my duties and responsibilities as a social media influencer. If you are wondering what a Social Media Infuencer is, here’s a video from Janette Toral which pretty much sums it all up.

You As A Social Media Influencer
Nowadays, social media influencing isn’t only confined to bloggers. In fact anyone who posts his reactions, thoughts, and opinions  in their own blog page, facebook, twitter, google, and IG accounts is considered a social media influencer himself. As each one of us engage in some form of social networking activity everyday, we are influencing and forming other people’s thoughts. Therefore proper care especially in the choice of words to be used must be exercised for whatever consequences that may arise from our innocent article or  simple status message  can proved to be irreversible.
Our Role As A Social Media Influencer
With the elections in the offing, a lot of candidates are turning to social media influencers to make their online presence known. I have to admit that at some point I have written a couple of articles here on some electoral candidates that turned out to be quite a disappointment.  I have to agree though with Ms.Janette Toral  in her article Tapping Social Media Influencer To Inform or Misinform that, “If we have helped in the past in spreading the word about them and their advocacies – and having doubts at the moment, I think it is important for that to be articulated and let those who interacted with us then and now help process our thoughts on this subject.” The job of a social media influencer doesn’t stop when the article gets published or when the status message have been posted, we always have to set things straight if need be. As social media influencers we have to make our online presence count by promoting fair, honest, and truthful exchange of opinion and ideas.
In the end, our aim as social media influencer should not be about gaining some sort of power with our words. It is about affecting change, inciting people to think, and mobilizing them to take action whether it be in major decisions that would affect our country such as the upcoming election or in pressing environmental concerns and issues that affect our community.
Do you think you have become an effective and responsible Social Media Influencer yourself? I will be happy to read your thoughts here.

Big Daddy Jay's All American BBQ

I was saddened when I learned that Soderno packed its bag or should I say tents and left town. I had many fond memories of Soderno. It was my husband and I’s weekend hang out place as we both love eating. Call me a sentimental fool but there’s always that tiny pinch in my heart whenever I drive by Molito and look at the vacant space that used to be Soderno.
Anyway, one thing I miss most about the place is this super delicious smoked ribs from Big Daddy Jay’s All American BBQ. It is without a doubt one of the best smoked ribs that I’ve ever tasted. It is tasty, tender, and cooked to perfection. I super love the barbeque sauce that comes with it too, it has just the right amount of sweetness, saltiness, tanginess. I will always remember Soderno for this, it was love at first bite for me and my husband.
I was delighted when I got an email from Ada Cruz-Lopez of  Big Daddy Jay’s informing me that they have opened a small resturant at Cubao, Quezon City and they have new additions to their menu.  I will definitely be dropping by their resto one of this days to sample their food and to satisfy my craving.:)
BDJ Post 2
If you are near Cubao, lucky you! You can sample Big Daddy J’s menu anytime. For now they are open every Friday and Saturday 6 pm to 12 midnight.  Here’s the complete list  just in case you want to get your smoked ribs fix too.

Bioessence's Anti-Flab Mud Treatment

Like probably most of you, I have been wanting to loose the extra pounds I gained over the holidays so I am currently back to my regular walking exercise and been controlling my carbo intake.  But then I’m afraid these aren’t doing much to my existing flabs though, if anything they just prevent me from gaining additional pounds. So you can just imagine how delighted I was when Bioessence invited me to try their Anti-Flab Mud Treatment, a non-invasive slimming treatment that aims to tone and firm the skin (target areas: tummy, thighs, arms), eliminate existing fats  and reduce cellulite formation.
I went to Bioessence Bacoor last Sunday for the treatment. There are three things I usually check out whenever I go to a spa, slimming, and skin treatment clinic:  place, staff, and service.
IMG_0920
First thing I noticed  as soon as I entered the clinic was how welcoming and inviting the whole place is.  The treatment area is cozy and well-kept . The muted lights, soft tones, and soothing music made my body relax instantly. The common treatment area at the center is spacious and has several beds lined up beside each other, this is where the massage services and skin treatments are usually done.   They have several small private consoles as well where treatments that need to be done privately are performed.
IMG_0916
IMG_0917
I was assisted by Leri who has been with  Bioessence for the past nine years. The fact that she has worked that long in Bioessence for me says a lot about the company. I liked her right away especially after she gave me a heavenly massage.  I also like how the whole staff greets everyone with a smile and how attentive and accommodating they all are.
Shortly after I arrived, I was ushered in to one of the private  rooms where I was provided with a bathrobe and  fresh change of undies.  First step was a 10 minute session with the Slim Toning Machine. This machine looks a lot like the threadmill, the only difference is that instead of running or walking, you just stand on it and let yourself be literally shaken by the machine. This helps move and detach  fats from the body in preparation for the other treatments that will follow. I felt all my fats loosening up a bit during the exercise . People with vertigo and migraine problems though can opt not to take this because it can trigger an attack.
IMG_0908
After that, I was brought to the other room for the Sauna, a heat treatment that increases metabolism, relaxes all muscles and flush out toxins in the body. I was a bit concerned with the intensity of the heat at first as this is my first time to try this. Turns out I didn’t have to worry at all as it is tolerable, my body actually welcomed the heat.  During the 15 minutes  Sauna treatment, I worked out a sweat and after that,  I felt good, relaxed, and destressed. For those persons whose blood pressure tends to shoot up easily, this treatment is highly discouraged. I appreciate the fact though that they do random blood pressure check up before the procedure.
IMG_0912
Leri then prepared me for the cold mud treatment by first massaging my whole stomach with salt scrubs as this is the area where most of my flabs are concentrated. The salt scrub helps remove dead skin cells while the massage using anti-cellulite oil helps firm and tone up the tummy. After that, my tummy did feel a lot smoother and firmer to touch.
She then applied the Cold Fango mud on my whole tummy area. This rich mud which originated from the sea contains natural minerals and peppermint oil that helps  firm and tone the skin. It has tiny particles that cleanse and remove toxins caused by cellulite formations. It has the following ingredients: sodium, potassium, chlorine, calcium, bromine, selenium, spirulina, and St. John’s wort. All these minerals are known to aid cell metabolism and stabilize skin moisture. After the application of the cold fango mud, my torso was wrapped using plastic film for fast and easy absorption.  While we were waiting for the cold mud to work its magic on my tummy, Leri  massaged my whole body using anti-cellulite oil to relieve stress and to improve blood circulation.
After the cold fango mud, I was hooked up to the faradic machine for 30 minutes. Faradic is a spot reduction treatment used to firm and tone sagging tissues. Thirty minutes of faradic treatment is equivalent to 150-300 sit-ups. It is a form of electrical stimulation that uses a higher intensity current which is delivered through electrically conductive pads that are positioned over specific muscle groups. As the current passes through the conductive pads, it stimulates the motor points of the muscle triggering a visible muscle contraction. In my case, the conductive pads where placed along my tummy all the way to my back where toning and firming are needed most. The Faradic treatment is ideally used for body contouring as well.
Before the treatment, my waist and tummy circumferences were measured. After the two hour treatment, I lost 2 lbs. in both areas and my tummy is noticeably firmer and smaller.
I highly encouraged you to try this treatment because it is for me the safest way to loose the flabs instantly because it is non-invasive.  It also uses natural minerals and is designed not only to tone and firm muscles but to flush out the toxins and rejuvenate the whole body. Plus, it is very affordable especially now that they are on a promo till January 31.  For only 2,000 pesos you get two sessions of the Anti-Flab Treatment. So if you’re determined like me to loose those flabs, do not let this perfect opportunity pass, go the nearest Bioessence branch and try this now. Believe me, you won’t regret it. 🙂
