I was at the Great Northern Sale today at SM City North Edsa and I must say, it didn’t disappoint me. I went home happy with my swags! I’ve never been fond of big crowds, but for red tag sales like this one and for the love of shopping, I pretty much tolerated it *big grin*. And man, today’s crowd at SM North Edsa was BIG, as in. Despite the heavy downpour, people flocked to the shopping Mecca that is SM North Edsa to get their hands on some great bargain pieces.
Well before we went there this morning, my husband and I both agreed to set today’s shopping budget at 2,500 excluding food. It was quite a challenge given that there were a lot of good stuffs around. You probably think that we are such killjoys but we’ve since learned from previous experience that it is best to set a limit for ourselves especially during sales to avoid feeling so bad and guilty afterwards for hoarding things that we don’t really need but bought just because they were on 50-70% off.
As soon as we arrived at SM North Edsa, we proceeded to our first stop, Forever 21.This place can probably be described as a woman’s sweetest dream and a man’s worst nightmare, hehe. There were a lot of great stuffs on sale but I settled for a shirt for my daughter since she has been wishing to buy one from this store (little girls and their fashion fantasies). I also bought jeans for myself. I haven’t been wearing jeans that much lately because I find them tight and heavy after my usual soft slacks uniform from work. But I found the perfect jeans from Forever 21, it is made from soft denim material and very light, perfect for me whose legs easily get suffocated. Hehe. I didn’t think twice and went ahead and bought it for a good price of 555 pesos.
Second stop was at SM department store where I wasted spent minutes upon minutes drooling at all the pretty doll shoes around. After debating which one to buy among all the pretty ones, I finally settled for the plain old mocha one even though I am itching to buy the fushcia and the tan. I figured that I’ll have better use of the mocha one as I can pair it with my 3 work uniforms unlike the two fab ones which I can only pair with just one work uniform.
Third stop was at Folded & Hung where my hubby bought one of the Marvel T-shirts he’s been pinning for for months, his patience and kakuriputan before finally paid off as he got a good deal with it, 450 pesos as against its regular price of 799 pesos. Plus he was able to buy a hat that looks exactly like his favorite one that got lost, at 292 pesos at that too.
So in total, we spent 2,297 pesos for all our purchases, not bad, considering that we’ve pretty much covered most of our shopping wishlist. Since we have 203 pesos left, I was able to squeeze in a compact powder from Maybelline worth 199 pesos. So all in all we spent 2, 496 pesos, right on the budget baby! Oh well, as for the rest of the afternoon, we just contented ourselves with feasting our eyes on the totally hot items there on sale. Believe me they are a lot.:)
The Great Northern Sale at SM City North Edsa is happening until tomorrow just in case you want to swag some great items too.

That’s the right strategy having a budget for spending as sale can really be tempting to splurge. Also, important to prioritize things more urgently needed in the budget.
